
Power Line Common Mode Choke
A common mode choke (CMC) for power lines is a type of inductor designed to suppress common mode electromagnetic interference (EMI) on power lines. It consists of two or more windings of wire around a common magnetic core, typically ferrite. The windings are arranged such that they create high impedance to common mode currents (those flowing in the same direction on multiple conductors) while allowing differential mode currents (those flowing in opposite directions on the conductors) to pass with minimal impedance.
